Austrian politician, geopolitician and philosopher, founder of the Pan European Union and a pioneer in European integration. Coudenhove-Kalergi's Austrian - Japanese parentage ensured a multi-cultural background and his first book, titled Pan-Europa was published in 1923. The first Congress was held in Vienna in 1926. Those attending included; Albert Einstein, Thomas Mann and Sigmund Freud. Coudenhove-Kalergi also proposed Beethoven's Ode to Joy as the music for the European Anthem. He is much maligned by the Golden-Dawn and the BNP.
