Pisani (1899 - 1990) Italian linguist, together with Giuliano Bonfante, was considered an ‘outstanding’ adherent to the school of neo-linguistics (neolinguistica), best known for its theories of linguistic geography, but which originally arose in opposition to the neo-grammarians. Neo-linguistics held that linguistic change arises from individual innovation.
