8vo., full calf. Spine richly decorated, boards with gilt dentelles surrounding elaborate panel stamped in blind, marbled endpapers, speckled fore-edges. v[ii]+362[vii]pp.. Engraved amorial bookplate to paste-down.
Generally in very good condition although spine a little fragile with upper joint cracking. Internally crisp, clean and possibly unread.
Glinka was a poet and an author of the Russian Romantic period. “[His] poems are spirited and patriotic; he wrote also several dramatic pieces, and translated Edward Young's Night Thoughts” (Chisholm 1911).
From the library of Maximilian de Beauharnais, 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg (1817-1852) husband of the Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, eldest daughter of Nicholas I and sister of Alexander II. with armorial ex libris to paste-down.
